RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE FIRE
E41,E121,E81,E2,E56,B43,T49,T121,T59,T69,DYKE,STANARDSVILLE
Engines 81 responded to a reported kitchen fire on Buck Mountain Rd. in northwest Albemarle County to assist Earlysville VFC. While en route responding units reported a column of smoke in the area of the call. E41 arrived to find a well involved structure fire with smoke and fire showing from 2/3rds of the structure. E121 arrived 2nd due and laid into the house with a supply line. Water supply operations were set up on Buck Mtn. Rd. with E2 assigned as the water supply engine and E81 assigned to the nearby fill site. However, E2's pump malfunctioned so E81 was reassigned to the water supply role at the dump tanks. E41 was able to set up turbo draft operations in a swimming pool at the house. Additional units were requested for the defensive firefight. Unfortunately two cats were unable to be rescued and the entire home was consumed by the fire. A garage exposure was protected and saved.
