Just one week after a two alarm residential fire STVFD gets hit with a two alarm garden apartment fire in Abbington Crossing. TO88 arrived first in to find fire and smoke showing from the rear of the structure. Dropping a split lay supply line for E2 to pick up. First arriving units assured all the apartments were evacuated before going to work on the fire. TO88 set up for elevated master stream operations while E2 and E1 crews prepared to enter the fire apartment from side alpha. After interior crews made a quick knock on the interior fire they withdrew so TO88 could finish the job extinguishing the exterior fire. Along with the two Charlottesville engines, units from Hollymead, Earlysville, Stony Point and Monticello assisted at the blaze. ACFR fire marshals determined the fire to have started from discarded smoking materials on the deck of the fire apartment.
