NVFC Healthy Firefighter
August 18-22, 2008
In order to create awareness around important health issues in the emergency services and encourage first responders to take action, the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), through its groundbreaking Heart-Healthy Firefighter Program, launched National Firefighter Health Week in August 2007. Now in its second year, National Firefighter Health Week is a week-long initiative to educate the fire and emergency services community and the public about heart-health as well as a variety of other health and wellness issues.

peacefully at her home on Sunday June 1, 2008, surrounded by her family.
CPSC Recall of Carbon Monoxide and smoke Alarms

On May 15, 2008 CPSC announced the recall of 280,000 Carbon Monoxide and Carbon Monoxide/Smoke Combo Alarms. The recall indicates that the products may not alarm properly posing a hazard. Manufactured in Mexico for Maple Chase the alarms were eligible to bear the UL and cUL Listing Marks.

Training opportunity in June

On June 12th Captain Rob Clemons and Lieutenant Ramon Perez of Prince William County Fire and Rescue will be conducting a LODD Presentation for local fire and rescue personnel. The focus of this presentation will be the Marsh Overlook incident that claimed the life of Kyle Robert Wilson on April 16, 2007. This presentation is open to all within the fire rescue community who wish to attend.

Seminole Trail volunteers participated in the Albemarle County Government Day held at the county office building on McIntire Road. Units from many of the county emergency services agencies were in attendance for public viewing and education.

Engine 81 catches its first official run

Engine 81 ran its first official call at 1851 hours on Monday March 31, 2008. E Crew was on duty and ran Engine 81 in place of Engine 85 for a reported car fire on Seminole Trail in front of the Charlottesville Post Office.
B Crew completed kitchen renovations this weekend
